Ah, that fresh feeling of starting anew. Every year on the first of the year or throughout the month of January we have that incredible feeling: we can start all over and begin again! We make resolutions to stop doing this or to start doing that. We become excited about planning and implementing our new beginning and we put forth sincere effort to change.
Usually, then, the hustle and bustle of our lives takes over, we get caught up in January busyness, and often we lose sight of our goals and desires to make changes. February arrives or another month after that, and we wonder what happened to our resolutions?
The most wonderful news of all, though, is that we do not need to wait until a new year to start again. Sometimes this is a difficult concept to grasp or remember, but every, single day, every single minute we have the opportunity to start fresh. I, personally, made the decision early this year that the only resolution I plan to implement in 2016 is to remember that I can begin again at any moment. I don’t care if mid-February arrives and I still haven’t started my workout program. I can start then. I can start that very day or at that very minute. Or, when I remember in three weeks that I promised myself that I would concentrate on expressing gratitude on a daily basis. I can start right then.
And, beginning again does not need to involve a huge event or a major transformation. It can be an action as simple, and as simply profound, as making the determination to change a mood. On those days when everything seems to be going wrong, we can pause, recognize what is happening, and make the decision to start over. On a moment’s notice, with quick concentration, we can jump on a new and positive frequency and turn the past negativity of the day around to begin a positive remainder of the day.
The concept of new beginnings needs to translate beyond just applying to the New Year or with a new resolution. Our new beginnings can start today, and always today. Right now. This minute.
