With Veterans Day coming up on Wednesday, November 11, you’re probably starting to notice television commercials, business promotions, and community events themed around the holiday. While we love to see the community join together to celebrate and honor all past and present U.S. Veterans during this time, NEOPAT wants to encourage everyone to promote patriotism all-year long. Join the Northeast Ohio Foundation for Patriotism (NEOPAT) Movement today, and become an integral part in keeping patriotism prevalent during all other months of the year!
NEOPAT is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization created to honor patriots who serve or have served, in the armed forces by working to minimize the hardships soldiers and their families endure. Over the last eleven years, roughly 110 young men and women from Northeast Ohio have died while serving our country, and NEOPAT’s mission is to honor these fallen heroes by keeping their spirit and memory alive and comforting their families. By encouraging non-military members in the community to share their time, money, and support with the organization and interact with the military community, patriotism can be highlighted for generations to come.
So, how does NEOPAT honor members of the U.S. Military all-year long? Here is a list of upcoming campaigns, as well as what the organization has planned in 2016:
Throughout the entire month of November, Fifth Third Bank has partnered with NEOPAT to collect donations at every Fifth Third branch in Northeast Ohio (83 locations). 100% of donations will go toward family basic needs, supporting patriotic community events, and funding scholarships for the local military community. This is the perfect way to say “thank you” to those who have sacrificed their lives for our freedoms.
During the holiday season, NEOPAT also runs a toy drive and an Adopt-a-Military-Family program, where volunteers from all over Northeast Ohio come together to make the holiday season for military families, a more memorable one.
Each year in March, NEOPAT honors a Charles Kirby Wilcox Honoree and presents a family with a life-changing donation at the organization’s annual Red, White & Groove Gala. Tickets for this event will soon go on sale and proceeds from ticket sales and raffles/auctions at the event will go right back to NEOPAT’s mission.
NEOPAT volunteers and board members also dedicate their time and support during Memorial Day, D-Day, and Patriot Day (9/11 Remembrance) events around the community.
