What makes you different than everybody else?
There are thousands of businesses around the globe and many companies or others who offer similar services or products just like yours… But what makes you different than all the rest?
Why would anyone choose to do business with you and your company over all the rest?
These are difficult questions to ask yourself or to ask of your business, but if you don’t know the why’s to what you are doing – if you don’t know what Unique Selling Point you have to offer, you can’t expect that your clients will either. The key to selling your business and your product effectively is having a Unique Selling Point referred to as a USP. But before you can begin to sell your service to anyone else, you have to sell yourself on it first.
Here are some hard questions to work through in order to find ways to make your company stand out among the rest:
What do your customers really want? – A lot of times we are so enamored with our own company or business that we forget to ask ourselves what our customers really want or need. We believe in our products (or at least we should if we are selling them), and we believe they are better than others, but are we sure that’s what our customers believe? What do you offer in your own field that keeps customers coming back for more? A better product? Amazing customer service? Convenience? Make sure you know what you offer that is better than others and key in on that as you market your business and brand.
Know why your customers want to buy your product or service in the first place. What need are you fulfilling for others? Do some analysis within your own market. What is it that makes customers want or need your product or business? Find out what it is and hone in on that. Customers love Starbucks for their coffee, but many people often express that it’s the experience of Starbucks that keeps them coming back again and again. What makes your clients return to your business?
Why do people choose to do business with you over your competition? What makes you stand out? Take surveys, ask for feedback and find out what your customers like about your business. When you know why others choose to do business with you, you can make it a point to identify those reasons in your marketing strategy to other new clients. Find out what others say about your business. It might be scary at first, but it will help you honestly assess what you need to improve upon and what things you are doing well.
Once you’ve asked yourself these hard questions, be brutally honest with yourself and ask yourself what things set you and your business apart from the rest? If there’s nothing, then find something or create something that can and will set you apart.
Discover what your Unique Selling Point is and hone in on it!
Find ways to talk about this, promote it, market it and build strategy plans around it. Identify your Unique Selling Point and be able to clearly communicate it to your co-workers, clients and friends. This is a great way to grow and build your business. Convince others why your business is better than all the rest within your own market. This will help your company rise above the rest and make you stand out!
